‘Draw Your Home!’ @ Pooi To Middle School

 

‘Draw Your Home!’ went to the community in October. Working with the whole form of Form 3 students from Pooi To Middle School, the project was an attempt of sharing design knowledge on the community level.

HKDI’s own Interior Design students served as facilitators in the five-week program. The interior design students led the secondary school students through a slew of design work, from how to draw a floor plan to understanding living space with a new perspective.

 

The program culminates with an exhibition of the secondary school students’ design proposals for a potential new dormitory at their school. HKDI hopes this exercise, along with the exhibition, will serve as catalyst and engage a wider student community at Pooi To Middle School in the design decision-making process of the school.

This project also offered opportunity for HKDI Interior Design students to gain hands-on experience facilitating a design workshop with users; it also got many of them thinking about their role as designer/social-facilitators.
